About This Blog
When I started this blog, my initial goal was to cover everything related to Information Technology and computing in Africa. However, like many other things and ventures, the blog has to grow and/or evolve. I now now find it more appropriate to focus on a narrower and more specific field, one that I am most competent in – Internet marketing.
Some of the topics you should therefore expect to see here include search engine news, commentary and in-depth analysis on important matters related to online marketing, etc. Occasionally, I may post technology stuff that does not necessarily pertain to internet marketing, but which I find interesting.
Like before, I expect my audience to be largely from within Africa, or more precisely, Kenya. I therefore tailor most of my writing with this audience in mind. However, I would be happy to attract and engage readers from across the world.
About Me
My name is Thomas Mghendi, a Kenyan citizen by birth. Currently, I work in the IT/Online Marketing department of Africapoint, a tours and travel company based in Nairobi Kenya. (Disclaimer: This blog is my own. Africapoint is not associated with this blog in any way).
I hold a B.Sc (Information Sciences) degree from Moi university, Eldoret – Kenya, which I obtained in the year 2001 . It was while pursuing this degree course that I developed a passion for computing and IT. Computer programming was – and still is ;-) – my main strength, being reasonably competent in C++, VB.net (Visual Basic then), and Delphi.
Other languages I have had some experience with include Prolog (Artificial Intelligence), Perl, and Tcl/Tk. Besides programming, I am equally strong in several other IT fields like networking and database administration.
Today however, I am more biased towards internet technologies and digital marketing. This is partially as a result of my work in web application development for the past few years. As a developer, I am particularly competent in PHP/MySQL, combined with AJAX and XML integration.
